Polyester Underfloor Insulation - Autex Greenstuf (Victoria Only) - FAQ

The pioneer polyester underfloor insulation in Victoria

For Victorian homes with bare floorboards

Q: Can I install the Autex Underfloor Insulation (Vacuum Packed) before it has commenced its re-loft?
A: Yes. As you will be stapling insulation that is much thinner than its final form, you are probably going to staple it at about mid joist rather than on the bottom of the joist. This means that when it does finally re-loft, you will not be getting R2.5 completely across the whole joist space.

If you do decide to staple the insulation to the lower edge of the joist, you will be leaving a “rodent enabling gap” between your insulation and the timber floor above.

Q: Can Autex Polyester Underfloor Insulation be used in my Climate Zone?
A: Autex Polyester Underfloor Insulation can be used in climate zones 4, 6, 7, & 8.

Q: Do you have a warranty for the underfloor insulation rolls?
A: Autex GreenStuf Polyester Underfloor Insulation has a manufacturer warranty of 50 years (T&C’s apply).

Q: What about the installation, is there a warranty for underfloor insulation?
A: As it is a DIY product, we cannot provide an installation warranty, as the installation process is outside of our control. We only had two situations where the insulation did not hold up (when properly installed) - one was from a tradesperson actively taking it down, the other was a wombat.

Q: Is Autex Polyester Underfloor Insulation easy to install?
A: The difficulty of installing underfloor insulation largely depends on your individual home. Factors like height under the floor, joist spacing and access all play a part. Feel free to reach out to us if you have any questions about the installation or check out our Underfloor Insulation Masterclass based on 20 years of installation experience.

Q: What is the difference between Autex and Polymax?
A: They are very similar products. Both are the same colour - white. Despite the name, Greenstuf is actually white.

Polymax has a nominal loft of 140mm (there are some variations), we recommend that you open the packs a day or two prior to installation to allow it to re-loft. Autex Greenstuf will be much less than 120mm straight out of the pack as it has been vacuum packed.

Lastly, the length of each roll of underfloor insulation depends upon the manufacturer - so check the Specs tab carefully.

Autex Greenstuf is available in Victoria only.
Polymax is available Australia wide - Victoria, NSW, QLD, ACT, SA and WA.
