Q: When might Draught Dodgers not be appropriate?
A: When installing on a single external door here are some things to watch out for:

  1. 1. If your door is fitted with a doorknob that is very close to the door jamb, the Draught Dodgers may cause difficulty in operating the doorknob. The Draught Dodgers add 11mm to the side of the jamb and this may impinge on the space normally used by your fingers operating the doorknob. If you have a door lever handle this is not a concern.
  2. 2. In some period homes, there can be an ornate skirting fitted around the bottom of the front door jamb. Draught Dodgers can only butt up to the skirting and cannot be fitted over it.
  3. 3. Similarly, in such ornate period front door jambs, the top of the door jamb can be a very thin ornate moulding. In this case, the top section of Draught Dodger cannot be fitted to the jamb in the regular way. It can however be fitted to the top face of the door such that the seal presses onto the ornate moulding when the door is closed. This is an effective method however aesthetic considerations may preclude this application.
  4. 4. If your external door jamb has a screen door stopbead fitted onto it then it's best to check that there is enough space for the Draught Dodgers to fit between the door side of the stopbead and the face of the front door. You will need a minimum of 22mm in order to fit the Draught Dodgers correctly.
