Q: I’m not really sure how or where to start?

Q: What is this kit?
A:  This kit contains high quality draught proofing components to treat one single external door. There are 3 variants:

• Enough Raw Draught Dodger mouldings for one single door and a RP3 Bronze Draught Excluder, or
• Enough White Aluminium mouldings for one single door with RP3 Silver Draught Excluder
• Enough Black Aluminium mouldings for one single door with RP3 Black Draught Excluder

Tip: Match the joinery of your door jamb and door furniture. 

Q: Will I still be able to open and close my doors?
A:  These products, when properly installed, will not affect your door from operating in its natural function. If you have difficulty closing your door after installation, can we humbly suggest that you watch the installation videos in the “How to Install” tab.  

Q: I want to paint my Draught Dodgers. What should I watch out for?
A: Both Raw Timber and Aliminium Draught Dodgers can be painted. Raw Timber Draught Dodgers can easily be stained or painted either before fitting or after fitting. Please note that only the timber part of the Draught Dodgers should be painted. Do not attempt to paint the seals. To ensure a good result, apply undercoat, sand, first coat, sand and final coat. If painting after installation, be sure to remove the seals first. Keep them in a safe place and refit them after painting is complete. Aluminium Draught Dodgers can also be successfully painted. Q: Can I fit Draught Dodgers if my door knob is close to the door jamb? How do I avoid jamming my fingers or knuckles?
A: If your door has a door knob is really close to the door jamb you can install Draught Dodgers in one of the following two ways:

• Option 1 - Tailor Your Draught Dodgers: Install the Draught Dodger with a small break around the door knob area. Instead of running the moulding in one continuous length past the knob, you cut the Draught Dodger slightly above and below the knob. The ends can be cut on an angle so your hand has more room to move and your knuckles do not crash into the seal every time you open the door. On timber draught dodgers, this looks fine.  The draught dodger edges can be sanded to smooth the look and feel.  On aluminium draught dodgers, it is not as aesthetically pleasing, but you can certainly apply products to seal the internal core of the aluminium moulding.  
• Option 2 - Replace Door Knob with a Door Handle: Lever handles keep your knuckles further away from the edge of the door. Instead of wrapping your hand around a round knob right next to the jamb, your hand sits out on the handle. That gives you more clearance, makes the door easier to open, and avoids the whole awkward knuckle-meets-Draught-Dodger situation.
