How To Install

What you will need:

  • Measuring tape
  • Pencil
  • Saw
  • Pliers or side cutters
  • Hammer

Watch the video:

Watch this video on how to fit and draught proof the bottom of an internal door. Whilst the product shown in this video is referred to as an RP2A, the instructions are similar for all brush seals.

Pro Tips:

  • If there is any variant in the floor surface under the door, i.e. if the gap between the bottom of the door and the floor varies as the door opens consider using a longer brush pile such as the 25mm of the RP15.
  • Before application, ensure surfaces are clean and smooth. Self adhesive strips do not adhere to oiled or alkyd finishes, or easy clean wash and wear paint surfaces.
  • Watch this video for tips on how to fit, trim and crimp a brush and carrier correctly
  • Cut the carrier and brush separately to stop the brush from coming apart.
  • Use a hammer to gently crimp the end of the carrier so the brush stays firmly in place.
  • RP74 has a wide aluminium carrier so it’s easy to attach with screws if needed (screws not supplied).
  • We recommend screw fixing any self-adhesive components to be used outside.

FAQ

Frequenty asked questions

Q: What is it?
A: This is a self adhesive brush seal that can be cut to size and attached to the bottom of the door. This product can also be screw fixed where required (Screws not supplied).

Q: How does it work?
A: The RP74 is a self-adhesive brush seal that can be used in many ways. Here are the more common:

- The RP74 can be fitted to the bottom edge of a hinged door so as to prevent draught coming in under the door. Typically used on internal doors to zone out wet areas from the parts of the home that are heated / cooled.

- The RP74 can also be used to seal the bottom and tops of external timber sliding doors. In this case the brush is fitted horizontally so that the brush seals against the face of the door. (See also RP75 and RP15). We recommend screw fixing (screws not supplied).

- RP74s can also be used to seal the training edge of an external timber sliding door. In this instance they are fitted onto the edge of the non-opening drame to seal onto the back of the sliding door. Not suitable for all doors. User to determine suitability of this application.

Q: How do I install it and where can I access instructions?
A: To install this product, please refer to this video, that shows you how our door draught excluder products are installed.

Please note that this product has a wider aluminum carrier, which will make it easier to screw fix the product.

When fitting any self adhesive component outside we suggest screw fixing.

Q: Is there anything to watch out for when installing the RP74?
A: Yes, because the brush pile of the RP74 is only 13mm long this brush is not a good choice if there is any variance in the floor surface under the door. In particular if the gap between the bottom of the door and the floor varies as the door opens you may want to consider a longer brush pile such as the 25mm brush of the RP15.

Q: Will I still be able to open and close my doors?
A: This product should not prevent your door from its natural function, if you can no longer open or close your door after installation, then it may have been installed incorrectly.

Q: What do I do if the product is faulty?
A: The ecoMaster return policy can be found on the website.

What is a draught excluder?

A draught excluder is a device that seals the gap at the bottom of your door to stop unwanted air, dust, noise, and even pests from sneaking in or out. It’s one of the simplest and most effective ways to improve your home’s comfort and energy efficiency—especially in older homes with gaps you can feel (or even see!).

Why do you recommend Raven draught excluders over other brands?

We’ve tested them all—and Raven comes out on top for performance, durability, and long-term reliability. While they might cost a little more upfront, Raven products last for years, not months. That means less replacing, less frustration, and more value over time.  Raven is the draught excluder we installed on our own home, 20+ years ago.  Its still there - working - effectively.

Why is Raven more expensive than what I can buy at a hardware store?

Because it’s built to last. Raven products are made with superior materials and are engineered to perform in real Aussie conditions—heat, cold, wind, and rain. Some carry a BAL (bushfire) rating and some carry acoustic ratings, so you’re not just buying a seal—you’re investing in comfort, safety, and peace of mind.

Are cheaper draught stoppers just as good?

Not really. Cheaper options might seem like a bargain, but they often fall off, lose shape, or stop sealing within months, or never work at all. You end up replacing them again and again. With Raven, you buy it once—and it just works, year after year.

Which Raven product is right for my door?

That depends on the size of the gap and the type of door. We’ve done the hard work for you with clear guides and curated product options. Or try Find and Fix My Draughts—it’s our easy tool to help you choose the perfect product for your home.

Can I install Raven products myself?

Yes! Most are DIY-friendly, and we provide installation tips and videos to walk you through it. If you’re comfortable using a drill or screwdriver, you’ll get a clean, professional result—and a draught-free door in no time.  If you are not comfortable with DIY, contact us for a referral to a trusted draught proofing technician in your area.

Door Brush Seal - Draught Excluder - RP74

it is too hard to seal the external door of my laundry. So I sealed the internal door instead with EMV tape, and the RP74 door brush seal. Works great. i thought about screwing the RP74 on, but the RP74 sticks just fine to the bottom of door.

Thank you so much for this review Matt. We hope to be able to help you again soon!
