FAQ
FAQ
Q: How long is each roll?
A: 5 metres
Q: What is the difference between Renshade 1350, Renshade 1000, Renshade 340?
A: It is exactly the same product - it is just in different widths. Each roll is the same length. Only the width is different:
- Renshade 1350 is 1350mm wide (1.35 metres)
- Renshade 1000 is 1000mm wide (1 metre)
- Renshade 340 is 340mm wide (0.34 metres)
Q: Are Velcro dots included with each roll of Renshade?
A: Yes. 20 Velcro dots are included with each roll. You can buy more if you wish.
Q: Why are there different widths?
A: The cost of freight! Anything less than 1.05 metres can be sent via Australia Post flat rate shipping. That means that Renshade 1000 and Renshade 340 can be shipped right across Australia for a flat and affordable rate.
Renshade 1350 is too wide to fit within Australia Post parameters, so it must be sent via courier. This can make your Renshade 1350 freight costs higher. If you don't need the extra width, try the Renshade 1000 or Renshade 340 and enjoy Australia Post shipping rates.
Q: What do you use the Renshade 1000 for?
A: Renshade 1000mm roll is very popular for shading windows in high rise apartments and anywhere where the north and western sun cannot be shaded from outside.
Q: What do you use Renshade 340 for?
A: If you are looking for caravan air conditioning, a couple of rolls of Renshade 340mm are perfect for reducing the heat load on a caravan or RV. Unlike air conditioning, Renshade 340 does not need electricity so it can effectively reduce the heat in your caravan even when you are off road! It can be put up in the summertime and removed for winter, when you would want the warmth of the sun.
Q: Can I join Renshade 340 to shade larger window?
A: Yes you can join it using regular clear sellotape. Of course you will always see the joins.
Q: Can I get a sample of Renshade to see if it is suitable for my home?
A: Yes - the Renshade 340 is a suitable sample size to test its effectiveness in your home on bigger projects.
Q: Can I use Renshade as a privacy screen?
A: During the day, Renshade will provide privacy as long as the brightest light is outside. Unfortunately this means that at night with the light on in a room, it is possible to see through it from outside.
Q: Can I install Renshade outside?
A: It depends. If you want to install Renshade under a pergola - then yes, as long as it is protected from high winds and rain. If Renshade is put in a windy or wet environment, it will become very unhappy and not serve you well.
Q: My window is wider than 1350. Can I order Renshade in a wider roll?
A: Unfortunately 1350mm is the widest that Renshade comes in. It is possible to join it together with good quality cellotape - the dots line up so it is easy to do!
Q: Can I make Renshade into a roller blind?
A: Yes. Please contact a blind maker who should be able to help you. We do not provide that service but are working towards getting a supplier to make them.
Q: Does Renshade burn?
A: Yes Renshade will burn when exposed to a direct flame. Do not expose Renshade to a direct flame. This is particular pertinent to under pergolas.
If you have a gas fired outdoor heater, remove Renshade from the area.
Q: Is Renshade suitable for double glazed units?
A: If a double glazing manufacturer believes that window films should not be applied to their double glazed units (DGUs) then the same should apply to Renshade. Renshade has been applied to thousands of homes over 30+ years. There has been no report of damage from Renshade. However, optimum results would be achieved via roller blinds or fly screen frames and not directly attaching Renshade to DGUs.

Q: What happens if my order is stolen after delivery?
A: We will check with the freighter to ensure that the order was delivered to the correct address. If that is confirmed, and your order has been stolen from your home after delivery, please raise a Police Report. In practice, we have had very little of this type of incident.

Q: What is the product warranty for Renshade?
A: Renshade carries a product warranty of 2 years, but can be highly effective for much longer than that. We have used Renshade for 15 years in roller blinds in our home. They are still very effective, despite kids and dogs!
Q: What else do I need to know about Renshade?

Very good product. The customer service was excellent.
Thank you for your kind review Tricia! We are happy to hear that you are satisfied with our Renshade reflective foil and that our customer service met your expectations. Have a fantastic day!
Good value product.
Does keep initial heat out.
Not sure how it will go when it hits a constant 40 degrees for more than a few days in WA. Time will tell. I have bought this product twice the second time I didn't receive as may velcro bits though. But so far so good and I do recomend it.
Hi Janelle,
Thank you for taking the time to leave a review for our Renshade Reflective Foil. We're glad to hear that it is working well for you and that you've found it to be a good value product.
20 Velcro are now included free with each roll of Renshade.
As you mentioned, we're also curious to see how it performs in extreme temperatures, but we're confident it will continue to keep the heat out. However, many days of constant 40+ degrees will need a number of actions taken together to maintain a comfortable home.
Draught proofing, insulation (ceiling, floor and wall) as well as window treatments all work together to keep your home's ecosystem comfortable in extreme temperatures.
Maybe check our blog on cocooning - which can relate to one room, or a whole home.

Thank you for recommending our product and for being a repeat customer. We appreciate your support and hope it continues to meet your needs.
Just by trying to cut the sheets while the sun is shining on to it will immediately give you an idea how much glare and heat the shade is rejecting. Mine did not come with the Velcro dots, so I had to purchase my own. Decided to use 2cm patches rather than dots.
Watch the instructional video before attempting, as you should have a long table to lay the shade out to measure and cut. It will help to have an extra pair of hands to hold really large pieces longer than 1m and wider than 60cm.
Most of the difficulty will come from the curling of freshly cut shade as you try to stick it nicely on the glass. Using larger velcro patches will allow you to reattach with some degree of error.
I recommend using more than 4 dots/patches as there is visible sag and if you regularly open the window for ventilation, a stiff breeze can pop the shade off.
When installed, it has made a huge different in the amount of heat and light + glare. Shut the window completely to keep hot air out.
It will darken a room significantly (more than 60% by my estimate), so consider half shading a window or leaving some windows unshaded if natural light is needed in an area.
Hi Weixian,
Thank you so much for taking the time to share your experience with Renshade! We’re thrilled to hear how effectively it has reduced heat and glare in your space. Your insight on the sun shining on the sheets during installation really highlights the immediate impact of Renshade, and we appreciate your positive feedback on its performance. Your tip about using larger patches for better adherence is incredibly helpful, and we’ll consider adding this advice to our instructional materials to assist others with their installation. Regarding the curling of freshly cut shades, this is a common initial challenge due to the material's nature. We value your recommendation on using more than four dots/patches, especially for those who frequently open their windows, and will pass this along to our product team for further review.
Was so easy to install. I am ready for summer!

I found this product easy to install, and so far this spring it’s made a big difference to the temperature of the room with this east-facing window. I also installed the draft excluder for a sash window, and have my fingers crossed for a cooler room!
