So far every other Ecomaster product has been great, 5 out of 5 stars.
However, the renshade concept is good but the execution not so much. The glue on the Velcro circles used to fix it to the windows or window frames is very poor. They seem to come unstuck at high heat (like 42 degC today) which kind of defeats its purpose. I’ve tried alternative heavy duty tapes but they come unstuck in the heat too. There’s probably one out there that works, but the fact the standard Velcro circles that come with it don’t work is annoying, especially since it cost $134 for a 5m roll.
The actual material itself as sort of a very thin cardboard also isn’t the best. It tears after taking it on and off several times and easily becomes stuck in the sliding windows when corners peel off. It’s rapidly degrading after a month or so of use.
I think I’ll try a few $10 car windshield reflectors. They may be uglier and not be a perfect fit, but Renshade isn’t exactly pretty either and was difficult to work with to get perfectly measured anyway. Hoping with air suction the car windshield reflectors stay up a bit longer than the peeling glue on 50deg windows.
Maybe a different material a better way to stick them up? I guess the cardboard is easily recyclable with those better environmental credentials than plastic everything.
I’m really just delaying a $2500 purchase of adjustable awnings or $3500 security blinds and may just have to bite the bullet on those. Or May need to move below 40deg south (preferably 45deg) latitude.
These Saudi/PetroChina/Exxon sponsored heat waves are killer.
