Good product, simple installation, good service.

We recently completed insulating under the floor of our 120sqm 1950s weatherboard place in Melbourne. It took us close to six months to finish - doing a bit at a time. The installation videos from EcoMaster were very useful and after a short time the process became second nature. It's not a difficult job but it can be physically taxing, in a fairly unpleasant environment, so we found we could only do a couple of hours at a time. But the difference is clear: on cold winter mornings the floorboards feel noticably less cold underfoot since completing each room (and when the cat gets up the warm patch he left stays warm to the touch for quite a while!!). Just be prepared that, depending on what your underfloor area is like, doing the whole house might take a little longer than you plan!

No more cold feet

The underfloor insulation proved better than we hoped. We had got used to cold feet on our Melbourne timber floor through the cold months. After the insulation was installed we used the ‘bare foot test’ and were pleasantly surprised at how the floor no longer felt cold. We also had the use of a thermal imaging camera at the time and recorded a very significant jump in the floor temperature. Very happy!

Value Poly Underfloor Insulation

Having no knowledge about underfloor insulation Ecomaster was a great start and lots of information on their website.
As for the underfloor insulation it has worked really well in dampening a lot of noise coming from outside. My house is on stumps and our street is not level so without realising a considerable amount of noise was coming through the underside of the house. Through renovations I removed the carpet and also noticed small gaps around skirting boards and in the floor in some places allowing cold drafts coming through the old wood floors. The underfloor insulation has resolved both these issues and the house is more quiet and no drafts coming through the wooden floors. Well worth the expense to put in as I can enjoy my original wooden floors and no longer have to consider covering them over with some other floating floor which in the long run would be far more expensive.

A: Value Poly Polyester Underfloor Insulation can be used in climate zones 4, 6, 7, & 8. That covers all of Victoria.

 

Q: Do you have a warranty for the underfloor insulation rolls?
A: Value Poly Polyester Underfloor Insulation has a manufacturer warranty of 50 years (T&C’s apply).

 

Q: What about the installation, is there a warranty for underfloor insulation?
A: As it is a DIY product, we cannot provide an installation warranty, as the installation process is outside of our control. We only had two situations where the insulation did not hold up (when properly installed) - one was from a tradesperson actively taking it down, the other was a wombat.

 

Q: Is Value Poly Polyester Underfloor Insulation easy to install?
A: Installing underfloor insulation may be easy or challenging depending on your home's specific attributes. A: T50 Staples were the staples of choice of the ecoMaster installation crews and are the size used for most good staplers. You will need about 340 staples per pack of Value Poly Underfloor Insulation. That's about 47 staples per sq metre.

 

Q: What is the difference between Value Poly and the other under floor insulations?
A: Good question. Valuepoly is an excellent choice for those individuals who want all the benefits of a great polyester underfloor product but at a more affordable price. When budget is a priority Value Poly is the best choice.

 

Q: What is the difference between Value Poly and Polymax?
A: They are similar products. They have the same R value and are made from the same base materials. Both have a minimum of 85% recycled content.

Polymax has a nominal loft of 140mm (there are some variations), we recommend that you open the packs a day or two prior to installation to allow it to re-loft.

Value Poly may have a small amount of compression (it has not been vacuum packed) and may be slightly less than full loft (120mm) when first removed from the insulation bag.

The length of each roll of underfloor insulation depends upon the manufacturer - so check the Specs Tab carefully.
Value Poly is available in Victoria only. If you are living outside of Victoria and wish to order Value Poly, please contact the team for a discussion about freight alternatives.
